…What began as GC3 & Friends, and briefly became The Average Waist Band, soon blossomed into a fully-fledged twelve(ish)-voice ensemble with a new identity: One Call Away.
Ann explains how we chose the name One Call Away:
Our name was born during a spontaneous moment of harmony – literally. On the drive home from a fantastic gig by one of our own (Sue), we found ourselves singing One Call Away by Charlie Puth in improvised four-part harmony.
The simple lyrics struck a chord with us, capturing the heart of what we are: a group of friends who show up for each other in music and friendship – always just one call away. Anna suggested it would make a great name for the group, and we all agreed.
If you catch one of our gigs, chances are you’ll hear our take on this song, which has become our unofficial anthem!
Through the joy of singing, we hope to brighten your day. Sometimes all it takes is a song – and we’re just ‘One Call Away’.
